Shiva and the wedding balloon
“Walkies! Come on Shiva,” calls Daddy. Shiva waits in her bed until Daddy is actually at the front door, shoes on, leash in hand. She knows that it takes Daddy a long time to gather all his belongings; phone, poo bags, treats, coat… “Now, where did I leave my keys? … mmmmmmmmmmmmm.” This usually takes a good 10 minutes and Shiva would much rather spend this time dozing in her cosy bed. Eventually she hears the rustle of his waterproof and she jumps to attention, trots to the door and smiles. The first walk of the day is always the most satisfying for a dog.
But what’s that Shiva? Standing proudly, waving in the breeze is a purple balloon. Shiva thinks its definitely worth investigating. As she approaches, she sees that there is a small card attached to the balloon’s ribbon. The card has a name and address on one side, and on the other, a very special message. It says “If you find this balloon, please send the card back to Herr und Frau Schmidt, Burgerstrasse 5, Cologne” The balloon had been let off during a wedding celebration some weeks earlier.
Shiva is very excited. She takes the card to the Post Office, adds a stamp and sends it back to Herr und Frau Schmidt. When they receive it, they are delighted to see how far it has traveled.
The following week, Shiva receives a very special package with a message saying “Thank you Shiva”. Wrapped in shiny paper is a large bag of doggy treats – her favourite.
Shiva thinks its always best to be kind and helpful to others.
