Shiva and the camel make an odd couple, but nevertheless they like each other.
Camel is a bit rude. He likes to spit and gnash his big, yellow teeth and kick sand just for fun. When he laughs, it’s like a whoopee cushion being squashed by a lady with a huge behind. When he walks he spreads his toes as wide as a dinner plate and flicks with his ropy old tail, the flies that gather round his rump. His hair is as rough as a lavatory brush and his breath smells like…well, perhaps we ought not to say, but if you imagine the half-eaten contents of a lunch box left behind for the entire school holiday, then you get the picture. You can’t say that camel is pretty but he does have the most dreamy brown eyes with the longest eyelashes to frame them and when he’s being cheeky, they sparkle and draw you in to his mischief like one of those hypnotic screensavers that you want to look away from, but can’t. He’s scruffy, one might even say a bit scratchy, but no-one can glide over the sands with such elegance and grace and no-one can endure the scorching desert heat without water as long as he can. In fact, he’s a pretty cool dude.
Shiva likes him and if you get passed the first impressions, you will like him too. Sometimes it takes a little while to get to know someone. Sometime you just have to give them a chance.
