Shiva and the wedding balloon
The stars reflect in Shiva’s eyes on a warm summer’s night. She gazes at the silver moon and lets out a long plaintive howl. A wolf on the balcony in tune with her ancestry, the little husky stirs the hearts of those who hear her.
Shiva stares entranced. Orion sparkles.
“Twinkle, twinkle little star…”
A gentle breeze ruffles her fur.
“How I wonder what you are…”
She breathes in deeply the scented jasmine.
“Up above the world so high…”
Standing as still as a Michaelangelo.
“Like a diamond in the sky…”
A mere speck at first, an amethyst sphere is coming into view, falling from the sky, swirling and spinning like a dandelion clock. Shiva follows its gentle descent, her tail sweeping with excitement, her front paws skipping.
“Twinkle, twinkle little star…”
Swaying this way and that like a feather in a dancer’s hat, the purple orb is drifting down.
“How I wonder what you are.”
It lands. A violet balloon, with a pink ribbon and attached a small white card on which these words are written.
“With this we celebrate our wedding day. If you find it please be kind and post the card back to us with perhaps, if you can, a note to say where you are. In this way we will know how far our love has spread.” signed Christophe and Frederic.
The happy couple could never have guessed that on this starry night their token of love would be blessed by a little husky howling in the moonlight.
